Christmas FruitCake Cookies

Love fruitcake? Well here is a different twist on an old favorite holiday recipe. Try this easy version and make a whole batch to share with family and friends. Yields 72 delicious cookies! Happy Holidays!

1/2 c Shortening
1/2 c Brown sugar; firmly packed
2 ea Eggs
1/2 t Vanilla
1/2 t Soda
1 1/2 T Buttermilk
1 c Flour
1/4 t Allspice
1/4 t Nutmeg
1/4 t Cinnamon
1/4 c Bourbon
1/2 lb White raisins
1/2 lb Candied cherries
1/2 lb Candied pineapple
1/2 c Flour
1 1/2 c Pecans; chopped

Cream the shortening and sugar. Then beat in the eggs and add the vanilla. Dissolve the soda in buttermilk.

Combine 1 cup of flour and all the spices. Add to the creamed mixture, alternating with the buttermilk and the bourbon. Be sure to beat well after each addition.

Coat the candied fruit with 1/2 cup of flour. Then stir the fruit and nuts into the batter. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheets and bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes.
