Why a Voice T1 instead of normal phone lines?
DS-1 service (a DS-1 is the circuit path and a T1 is a fully connected DS-1) provides a dedicated connection from the customer's premises to a local telco switch at a local switching station. It provides the user with a single high-capacity digital circuit with 24 channels that can be allocated for data and voice.
In order to get the most benefit from T1 voice connections, you usually need a minumum of 12 telephone lines and your phone system must be able to accept a T1 channel adapter card.
You will eliminate your local POTS (plain old telephone service) lines. So if you pay $30each/month for 12 lines, you can re-allocate that $360/month to the T1 circuit.
Once your T1 is connected to the telco switch, you pay DEDICATED telco rates: as low as 2 cents/min for local and 3c/min for interstate calling on-net. International calls are handled as well. Everything looks the same to all your users and customers.
Depending on the numbers of phone lines and your usage, we can provision a mix of the 24 channels for voice and Internet Data or other data protocols. Many newer PBX systems can accept a T1 channel card and support up to 4 or 5 bonded T1 voice circuits to handle hundreds of lines. We'll need to talk to you about your daily use.
International calling costs can be drastically reduced by combining carriers worldwide with local dedicated circuits. A toll-free line in the US can ring through to Asia, for example, and a help desk in Asia can use the circuit to make local calls in the US.
