Please Settle a dispute between me and my husband. It has to do with loading the silverware in the dishwasher. My husband says that the silverware should go into the basket dirty part up so that it's sure to get clean. I say that the silverware should go in handle part up, so that when unloading, you aren't touching the clean part that is eaten off. I think if the dishwasher is worth anything at all it would get the silverware clean no matter which way it's loaded.
Thank you!
You and your husband need to lighten up and be grateful that this is the least of your worries.

Well now, if your husband is EVEN loading the dishwasher, you should thank your lucky stars!!! My engineering-degreed, technical wizard can't seem to even find the open latch on the machine after all these years!
But seriously, I know how frustrating it is to me that my family can't see the logic (MY logic!) of loading silverware into the dishwasher properly so that it all gets clean and is already sorted properly for easy storage afterwards! I personally load "handles down" mainly because that's how MY mom taught me.
However, I did check with the "authorities" and dug up the instructions that came with my Whirlpool dishwasher. It does in fact recommend that utensils be loaded handle-end down so that maximum cleaning can occur with no "nesting" of the utensils.
So there you have it! I suggest that you now use this new-found knowledge to your benefit. Tell hubby that he should load/unload the dishwasher from now on since he "does it so much better" than you! This will help wipe the smirk off his face while you relax with a nice cup of after-dinner tea/coffee!!

I think if I even get the silverware into the dishwasher, or my fiance even gets it into the kitchen, everyone's content with the efforts!
