We are having an open house the day before my son's high school graduation. I am enclosing a small card with details inside his graduation announcements. We have several friends that have graduating seniors at the same high school. I hate to send them an invitation (which they will be sending for their child) but I would like to let them know about the open house. Should I send the inside notes separately or invite them verbally? Do you have any suggestions on how to handle this? Thanks!

Depends on how much time you have and how many people you are inviting. If the number of people you wish to invite is small enough for you to call personally, I'd go that way. But if you have too many to call and it's going to stress you out, go with a separate invitation. Have fun and congratulations to your graduate and you!
If it's a matter of saving money on invitations, then I suppose you could
simply make a few phone calls to invite those friends you'd like to join
in the festivities. Otherwise send invitations to everyone. You might
accompany that invitation with a phone call, making the process a little
less formal. These next few months are craziest for high school seniors
and parents, so I would think the etiquette for party invitations will be
the least of your worries.
