i am in love with this guy we are dating and in a serious relationship, he says that he loves me and we both have been burned pretty bad in prior relationships. my question is how can i tell if he really loves me, and that he will not hurt me like i was hurt before?

If you are unsure of his intentions then take it slow - there is no law that for magical passion you have to jump right in. You can gain that same magic by enjoying your relationship and letting it progress at a comfortable,secure pace.

Why are you doubting him? He says that he loves you, yet you are worried about being hurt. Has he done anything to make you distrust him? If not, relax. But if you have reason to doubt him, you need to be aware and perhaps slow down a bit. There are no guarantees in life and in particular, in love, but that doesn't mean that you can't protect yourself by being cautious! Good luck!
